Main Purpose:
The Group Social & Digital Communications Manager will lead the implementation of Sappi’s Global Social Media and Digital channels strategies to help grow and build Sappi’s reputation with key external stakeholders through online platforms.
Main Responsibilities:
As a member of the Group communication team:
- Contribute to the development of the communication strategy and action plans as well as ongoing monitoring and evaluation
- Provide guidance to and coordinate with the regional communication teams
- Help build the communication competence of the Group
Social Media
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on all social media communication related aspects
- Develop and implement internal social media advocacy programme with staff globally
- Develop and implement Social Media Executive Profiling Programme
- Manage and align the global social media presence for the Sappi Group including developing and implementing the group corporate social media programme
- Coordinate and align global social media teams (or those responsible for social media)
- Ensure that all regions adhere to the social media policy, community management and posting guidelines, monitor and provide regular feedback on suggested improvements
- Manage all agencies providing strategic, campaign or creative services for the portfolio
- Create content plans, engaging content and ensure delivery of planned content as per content calendar
- Ensure accurate budget forecasting and that all activities are managed within budget
- Conduct regular reporting
- Ensure all policies, guidelines and supporting material (Playbooks etc) remain up to date
- Support internal social media upskilling processes, including providing input into social media training
- Implement and update the Group Sappi Social Media Strategy, policy, guidelines, and governance procedures
- Maintain social media management tools and systems
- Support the development of regional strategies to ensure alignment with global strategy
- Drive collaboration and engagement of global social media teams and manage collaboration tools and calendars
- Own the maintenance of Global Corporate Channels and support the development and creation of new channels
- Coordinate social media issue management and crisis response with internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate third party recommendations on content/campaign approaches
- Manage all community engagement for global channels
Global Intranet and employee communication channels
- Support the proper maintenance, updating, development and promotion of internal communication channels including Intranet and Employee Communication Applications
- Assist with the content creation and updating required for Sappi’s Global intranet and SharePoint communication sites
- Provide regular reviews, audits, usage stats, analysis and proposals regarding internal channels
Global website
- Maintain close coordination with Group and regional IT structures to align technical and communication requirements regarding Sappi’s online presence.
- Ensure increased traffic through available tools and provide regular usage statistics, analysis and proposals as regards the Sappi website
- Liaise with business units to ensure that information is gathered, copy is written, and company information is always up to date.
- Update content on the CMS where required
- Liaise with agencies where additional support is required
- Coordinate and respond to website enquiries and or redirect where appropriate
- Provide support on global website projects where required
Media and Global Media Monitoring (GMM)
- Manage GMM service provider (Main contact/facilitate payments)
- Circulate GMM reports
- Maintain GMM global keyword database
- Manage and co-ordinate (GMM) newsletter and alert requirements
- Coordinate GMM requirements & requests from the business
- Conduct surveys on usage of service/recommend and implement improvements
- Maintain alert recipient contact databases for different services provided
- Maintain GMM source list database
- Chair monthly GMM meeting
- Assist with facilitating the distribution of global media releases where required
- Load Global and SA media releases to global website (& ensure internal hyperlinking within content)
- Submit global media releases to BiZcomm media portal
- Ensure media releases are promoted on social media channels
- Source appropriate digital creative assets (images / cards to accompany release on website and social media)
General
- Ensure that all content on digital channels (internal and external) adheres to CI
- Manage external agencies as required
- Provide best practice and industry trends inputs
- Provide new ideas and recommendations regarding the areas of responsibility
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Communications or Digital Marketing with at least up to 5 years’ experience in a corporate environment
- Excellent understanding of and experience in electronic / digital media and social media channels
- Proficient in MS office, MS Teams and Sharepoint
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Premier Pro) a plus
- Proficient in CMS platforms (eg Drupal) a plus
- Experience in a multinational and/or B2B environment as well as manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
